Fall for Me

A piece from my new book, The Fall and Rise of a Black Man in Love, releasing April 28th. Enjoy!

If it means that I can be the only one, Then you should fall,
Fall without fear of disappointment, Fall without reservation,

Fall in the summer
Without a wonder
If I'll be there for the fall,
See I just want it all from you,
But you're afraid to give it up,
Because you remember when you used to
Fall for those other guys,
Fall for their lies and deceit,
Fall for the look in their eyes
When they told you it was real,
I promise I know how you feel
Because falling has such a negative connotation, As you're sent on a descent toward the pavement You fear that no one will catch you
And that you'll feel the pain of rock bottom,
But if you just
Fall for me,
I've got you covered,
I'll love you 365 and 366 in a leap year
If you take that leap of faith,
And leap into my arms,

Because if you give me your all
I will give you the world,
So like the rain in the summer sky

Would you fall for me,
Like the river cascading off of a cliff

Would you fall for me,
Like a magician's audience
With ooh's and ah's of amazement

At just a simple illusion,
Would you
Fall for me?
